Nicole L’Huillier

Nicole L’Huillier, born in 1985 in Santiago, Chile, is a transdisciplinary artist and researcher. In her practice, she explores sound and vibration as materials of creation in order to engage with questions of agency, identity, collectivity, and the activation of a “vibration imagination.”

Her works manifest as installations, sonic or vibrating sculptures, self-made listening and/or sound devices, performances, experimental compositions, membranal poems, and texts. They have been featured, among others, at the 36th Ljubljana Biennial of Graphic Arts; the 14th Bienal do Mercosul, Porto Alegre; the 60th Biennale di Venezia; the 6th Ural Industrial Biennial in Yekaterinburg; and the 16th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. In addition, her work has been shown at Tabakalera Donostia in San Sebastián, Kunsthalle Bern, Ming Contemporary Art Museum (McaM), Shanghai, ifa Gallery, Bienal de Artes Mediales and Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (MAC), Santiago, Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, transmediale, Berlin, and Ars Electronica, Linz.

She received her doctorate in Media Arts & Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2022.
