Tom Schneider

Tom Schneider, born in Schlema in 1966, is a director and musician. Since 2004, he has created his own productions at venues including Theater Basel, Theater Heidelberg, Theater Freiburg, the Münchner Kammerspiele, Theater Neumarkt Zürich (2013–2019), Schauspielhaus Bochum, and Schauspiel Leipzig. From 2007 to 2012, he waspart of the in the artistic leadership of PVC-Tanz (Labor für zeitgenössischen Tanz) at Theater Freiburg, working as a director and musician. In 2012, he founded the theatre and dance group off deluxe in Freiburg. Its first production, twilight/echo, received the Stuttgart Theatre Prize for Outstanding Artistic Achievement.

In 2016, together with Sandra Hüller, Moritz Bossmann, and Tobias Staab, he founded the theatre collective FARN. The collective’s productions to date include Bilder deiner großen Liebe by Wolfgang Herrndorf at Theater Neumarkt Zürich, Die Hydra, based on texts by Heiner Müller at Schauspielhaus Bochum, The Shape of Trouble to Come, a co-production with Schauspiel Leipzig and Schauspielhaus Bochum, Penthesilea:s at Theater Halle, and the audio guide Wie Gras at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin. The audiobook version of Bilder deiner großen Liebe was named Audiobook of the Year by the hr2-Bestenliste in 2019.
